This Virtual Lions' Den, co-hosted with UATP, is the place to see some of the latest solutions to enable airlines and travel companies to generate cost savings as related to Payment Acceptance and Fraud Prevention.

This fast-paced session, taking place at 10am Eastern/4pm European Time on Wednesday, May 20th, will have have 3 to 4 innovative companies pitching their Payments & Fraud-related solutions for 5 minutes each to our esteemed panel of "Lions" (judges), all of whom have extensive Payment experience. The pitching companies will then face 5 minutes of questioning by the Lions. At the end of the pitches, the Lions will choose the Best Pitch and the Best Product of the day.

Wendy Ward
is Senior Vice-President of Marketing & Communications at Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP) where she provides leadership and support to team members to develop integrated global marketing initiatives. As the the head of marketing for the company which launched the world’s first charge card and launched alternative forms of payment in many airlines, Wendy also brings deep payment industry experience to this session.

Wendy invited the following companies to pitch in the Lions Den, as well as the following executives with extensive Payments or VC backgrounds to judge this contest:
 


Lion #1
Madeleine Anderson has been the Executive Chair of Ai Events' conferences in 2019 and 2020. She ran British Airways' Executive Club and has done work for many other airlines from Jet2.com to Emirates, as well as for hotel brands and retailers, including launching their co-branded credit cards. She brings to this Lions Den decades of experience selecting vendors for airlines and travel companies.
 


Lion #2
Laurie Gablehouse is the Global Head of Travel Solutions at Ingenico ePayments, responsible for  
global strategy and payment solutions for airlines, hospitality, OTA's & other travel related services.
Laurie worked for 27 years in eCommerce at Continental Airlines, later working after its merger in
United Airlines as a Consultant. Her consulting then went on to include work for many major airlines
and technology providers in the airline space, particularly in areas related to payments &
fraud prevention.

Máire P. Walsh is SVP Digital Technologies of Enterprise Ireland, the VC arm of the Irish Government, which was ranked by PitchBook as the number one seed stage investor in Europe and number two globally. Prior Máire worked leading digital marketing for several companies in the Bay Area.



Lion #4
Zach Ornelas
leads UATP's Network Sales department as VP of Global Network Sales. In this role, he is responsible for the promotion and expansion of UATP’s Charge Card Network, along with managing new and existing Shareholder and Merchant relationships. Zach has 20 years of payments experience with companies including American Express, MSTS and Point to Point
.
